A New Way to Convert Documents
We built MarkdownConverters to make document conversion fast, private, and optimized for AI. But there was always one friction point: you had to leave your AI app, open our site, upload a file, copy the result, and paste it back. That workflow breaks your flow.
Today, that changes. We are launching our MCP Server — a way for your AI applications to connect directly to MarkdownConverters. Just ask your AI to convert a file, and it happens. No tab switching. No copy-pasting. No interruption.
It works with Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, and any other application that supports the Model Context Protocol.
What is the Model Context Protocol?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI applications use external tools and data sources. Think of it like a USB port for AI — a universal way to plug in capabilities. Instead of each app building its own integration, MCP provides a single, standardized connection.
MCP has been adopted by leading AI platforms including Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, and developer tools like Cursor. Companies like Cloudflare, Notion, and Stripe have already launched their own MCP servers. We are proud to join them.
By running an MCP server, MarkdownConverters gives your AI assistant direct access to our conversion engine. Your AI can convert documents, search through past results, and retrieve specific conversions — all through natural language.
What Your AI Can Do
Our MCP Server exposes four tools to your AI application. Each one maps to something you would normally do on our website — but now your AI handles it for you.
Convert Files
Hand your AI a PDF, Word document, Excel spreadsheet, or any supported file and say “convert this to Markdown.” The AI sends it to MarkdownConverters, gets the result, and presents the clean Markdown directly in the conversation.
You: “Convert this quarterly report PDF to Markdown”List Conversions
Need to find a document you converted last week? Ask your AI to show your recent conversions. It will pull up your history with file names, dates, and statuses — no need to open the dashboard.
You: “Show me my recent conversions”Get Conversion
Retrieve the full Markdown content of any past conversion. Your AI can then summarize it, answer questions about it, or use it as context for further work — all in one conversation.
You: “Show me the full content of that quarterly report”Search Conversions
Search across all your converted documents by keyword. If you remember a phrase but not the file name, your AI can find it for you instantly.
You: “Search my documents for pricing information”How to Get Started
Setting up the MCP Server takes about two minutes. Here is how:
Generate Your MCP Token
Go to your dashboard and navigate to the MCP Server section. Click “Generate Token” to create a unique, secure connection URL. This token is tied to your account and can be revoked at any time.
Add the Configuration
Add the following JSON to your AI application's MCP configuration file. Replace the token with your unique URL:
{
"mcpServers": {
"markdownconverters": {
"url": "https://app.markdownconverters.com/api/mcp/your-unique-token"
}
}
}Start Converting
Restart your AI application. You will see MarkdownConverters appear as a connected tool. From now on, just ask your AI to convert a file, and it will handle the rest.
Works with your favorite AI tools
Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, and any MCP-compatible client. The configuration format is the same across all of them.
Built with Security First
Giving your AI access to a tool means trusting the connection. We designed the MCP Server with the same security standards you expect from MarkdownConverters:
SHA-256 Tokens
Your MCP token is generated using SHA-256 hashing. It is unique to your account and never transmitted in plain text.
Rate Limiting
Built-in rate limiting prevents abuse and protects your account from unexpected usage spikes.
Permission Control
The MCP server can only access your own conversions and your own account data. No cross-account access is possible.
Instant Revocation
Revoke your token at any time from your dashboard. The connection is severed immediately — no waiting, no grace period.
Included with All Paid Plans
The MCP Server is not an add-on. It is included at no extra cost with every paid plan. If you already have a subscription, you can start using it right now.
