What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard created by Anthropic that lets AI apps like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor connect to external tools and data sources. Think of it as a USB port for AI — one standard plug that works everywhere. Our MCP server lets your AI apps convert documents, search content, and access your conversion history directly.
Does it cost extra?
No. MCP Server access is included with all paid plans (Starter, Pro, and Scale). Your AI-initiated conversions use the same monthly conversion quota as manual conversions — no separate billing or hidden fees.
Is it secure?
Yes. Every connection gets a unique token that is SHA-256 hashed before storage — we never keep the plaintext. Connections are rate-limited to 60 requests per minute, and you can revoke any connection instantly from your dashboard. Each connection has scoped permissions, so you control exactly what it can do.
How many connections can I create?
You can create up to 5 MCP connections per organization. Each connection can have different permissions — for example, one read-only connection for Claude and a full-access connection for Cursor. You can disable or delete connections at any time.
Which file formats are supported?
All the same formats supported by MarkdownConverters: PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), PowerPoint (.pptx), HTML, CSV, JSON, XML, ZIP archives, images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF), and EPUB. Your AI app can convert any of these to clean Markdown.
Do conversions through MCP count against my quota?
Yes. Conversions initiated through MCP use the same monthly conversion quota as conversions done through the web app or API. This keeps billing simple — one quota, one price, regardless of how you convert.
Which AI apps are supported?
Any app that supports the Model Context Protocol with "Streamable HTTP" transport. This includes Claude Desktop, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, and many more. If your app supports MCP, it works with our server — just paste in the URL.
