Elimination — The best way to control a hazard is to eliminate it entirely. Example: use an electric forklift truck rather than a gas operated forklift truck to eliminate carbon monoxide in a warehouse.
Substitution — When a hazard cannot be eliminated completely, the second best alternative is substituting the dangerous condition. Example: using paint that does not contain lead-based pigments.

Can I paste cells instead of uploading a file?View answer
Yes — that is usually the faster route. Select the range in Excel or Google Sheets, copy, and paste it into the box near the top of this page. It converts as you type, runs entirely in your browser, and needs no account. Upload the file instead when you want every sheet in a workbook at once.
Does it work with Google Sheets and Numbers?View answer
Yes for pasting. Both put tab-separated text on the clipboard, which the paste box detects automatically — as it does with comma and semicolon separated data. For file upload, export to .xlsx or .csv first.
Can you convert Excel files with multiple sheets?View answer
Yes. Each sheet in your Excel workbook is converted to a separate Markdown section with the sheet name as a heading, preserving data from all tabs.
What happens to formulas in my Excel file?View answer
Formulas are evaluated and the resulting values are included in the Markdown output. The formula expressions themselves are not preserved — only the computed data.
Are merged cells and formatting preserved?View answer
Merged cells are expanded into individual cells in the Markdown table. Bold, italic, and other formatting is converted to the equivalent Markdown syntax where possible.
How large of an Excel file can I convert?View answer
Free accounts support files up to 5MB. Paid plans unlock larger uploads — up to 100MB on Starter and 2GB on Scale — along with batch processing.
What does not survive the conversion?View answer
Charts, pivot tables, images and conditional-formatting colours have no Markdown equivalent, so they are dropped rather than approximated. Cell comments and hidden rows are also left out. If a sheet is mostly a chart, you will get its underlying data table and not the visual — worth knowing before you convert a dashboard.
